My goal with this blog is for you to enjoy your time here. Most of the posts talk about my experiences raising my two yellow Labrador Retrievers, some are just for fun, and others share the best dog related information and products I have found.

Use the tabs above for quick navigation. I have imbedded links for as much as possible so that you can find the resources easily from this blog. The links in the side bar are for websites that have been helpful to me. I hope that you find them useful for you and your canine "family member"

"Spring Cleaning" My Blog

I've been making several changes to my blog template and background recently.

One of the things that wasn't working as I had hoped was the tabs section that I had at the top of the "post section" on the page. The "blogger hack" required weird labeling that I'm sure did strange things to keyword searches for bring up my pages. So, when I found an awesome "tabs blogger hack", I relabeled all my blog posts and edited the template html for the new tabs. The instructions were simple to implement for my html ignorant blogger brain. Here's the link for all the instructions I followed to put the new tabs on my blog: [Horizontal Tabs]

For "Step 6." I used method B: It behaved better with the template I'm using.

To get the text color to change to white (or any html color # of your choice depending which color tab your choose) when you hover over the tab, I used this additional code found in the comments on the page:
#tabsori a:hoverspan {
background-position:100% -42px;
To anyone else out there in "blog-o-sphere" making improvements to their blog, I'd love to have you leave me a note with a link to, or details for, how you made improvements to your site. I'm always looking for good ideas.

Happy Blogging,

Day 983 of my captivity...

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I have made my contempt for these rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I have once again vomited on the carpet.

Today, I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies'. I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today, I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking.. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I have observed him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe...for now.

Spring Break...

It was Spring Break for my fabulous niece. Fabulous because she loves just walking the beach with the dogs as much as I do. Here are some of the best pics from our day at the beach.

The fabulous day!

A fabulous wave!

One of her fabulous pictures!

New Moon vs. Full Moon - Who cares?

As some of you may know, "new moon" and "full moon" phases often have the same effect on the tide. Which means that yesterday was a perfect day to take advantage of some beautiful warm March weather by heading to the beach.

Who cares? I didn't as "new moon" & "full moon" both = "low tide"!!

It was a -0.5 tide and the dogs had a blast!! It was a winter beach, not because it was cold, it's just the way the beach is different this time of year. Some of you may know what I'm talking about, so sorry I'm not finding the ability to describe it better than that.

Here's a picture that may help. When it's low tide in the winter it's more common for pools of ocean water to be left behind along this part of the coast. This isn't as common other times of the year here. I'm sure there is someone out there that can explain why. Me, I'm happy just calling it "winter beach".
The black lab in the front is Moses' dad, "Doizer" and the yellow lab in the center back in "Moto" his brother. They belong to friends that live near the beach and both were out taking themselves for a walk when we arrived. The four of them had a blast chasing balls down the beach.

It was a beautiful day!! It was definitely worth the drive in the middle of the week. I suppose it helped inspire the recent changes to the blog. Hope you like them.

Thumbs UP - Thumbs DOWN

So, saying that I've made some changes would be a bit of an understatement.

Since I am far from being able to live at the beach I am doing the next best thing. For those of you who have been here for a while, I'm sure you are not surprised.

I hope that the changes are not band-width prohibitive. Please leave a "tail wag" with your thumbs UP or DOWN.
